In the other semi, McGill defeated Concordia 52-50 in overtime.
In the final, Bishop’s crushed McGill 102-48 as Lynn Polson scored 22, Andrea Blackwell 20, Denise Dignard 12, Connie Classen 12, Theresa Grant 12 and Karen McComber 12. Annette Kiss paced the Martlets with 15. Karen Diaz added 10. Gaiters coach Wayne Hussey told the Montreal Gazette that “we played just great. Everything we did offensively and defensively worked. To beat a team by 54 points in a league championship is a helluva way to go into the national championship. … We fell back into a zone after the first 10 minutes of the first half and forced them to take outside shots. We got the rebounds and were able to run up a 28-point lead at the half. We did the same thing after the first 10 minutes of the second half.”
