In the semis, the Concordia Stingers defeated the McGill Martlets 71-63 as Paddie Chiara scored 26, Cheryl Peterson 20 and Gay Owens 14. Chiara and Peterson seemed to score at will as Concordia built a 38-18 lead at the half. But Carolyn Woolrich rallied the Martlets with several steals off a full-court press. They trimmed the margin to 57-51 but faltered down the stretch as they got in foul trouble and all hopes dissipated when Woolrich fouled out with about six minutes to play. Lori Sprague led the Martlets with 18. Monica Kerwin added 17. “We allowed them to get too big a lead in the first half. … We just weren’t playing ball. We came out frightened,” Redmen coach Steve Forman told the McGill Daily. “Twenty points is just too much to make up without a big man.”
In the final, the Bishop’s Gaiters defeated the Concordia Stingers 83-67 as Debbie Huband scored 20, Linda McPherson 19, Helen MacAuley 14 and Diane Murphy 13. Cheryl Peterson led the Stingers with 21. Joyce Tarbet added 20.
