In the semis, held in Montreal at Concordia University, the Laval Rouge et Or thrashed the McGill Martlets 61-43. Helene Samson led the Rouge et Or with 19. Monica Kerwin led the Martlets with 17. Redmen coach Steve Forman told the McGill Daily it was “sad to see it end like this. … In the first half of the season, we didn’t win any games. We lost a game to Bishop’s by ten points, which is their only win of the season. That’s how bad we were. But In the second half, not including the games against Concordia, we were eight and two. I also had to go with just seven kids because the others had no stamina. When they got over the mid-court line, they were too tired to tun the right offence. They were not in condition.” Forman said the university treated his troops badly all season, allowing them just one practice (on Thursdays) during which they could only use half the court. “We didn’t even have a trainer. … (Next year), I’m looking for the same things as the Redmen. I want equalization; I want two courts. I want these things to get off our minds. I’m not going to take this (censored) next year.”

In the other semi, Concordia whipped U.Q.T.R. 90-71 as Liz Silcott scored 21 and Sylvia Sweeney 17. Claudette Leclerc led the Patriotes with 14. Johanna Lachance added 14. The Stingers led 51-29 at the half.

In the postseason final, Concordia defeated Laval 93-47 after leading 49-19 at the half. Liz Silcott led the Stingers with 26. Sylvia Sweeney added 24. Helene Samson led the Rouge et Or with 18. Liz Silcott told the Montreal Gazette that “you don’t get very much good out of a game like this. This was just a showtime session. We have to play against good competition to prove ourselves.” Stingers coach Mike Hickey said “sometimes I think we’re cutting our own neck by playing such weak teams and then expecting to be mentally prepared a week later to meet the best teams in the country. … Our press worked well. We forced them into a lot of turnovers and we didn’t get beat at all.”
