In the regular season, Concordia finished atop the standings with an (11-1) record. The Stingers lost 88-70 to McGill in the final game of the season. Had they gone undefeated, there would not have been postseason playoffs.

In the semis, the McGill Redmen defeated the U du Quebec @ Trois-Rivieres Patriotes 68-63.
In the final, McGill nipped Concordia 68-66 as reserve Sandi Cianci hit a 15-foot jumper with two seconds to play. “I was looking to pass,” Cianci, munching his reward, a chocolate cupcake covered with smarties, told the Montreal Gazette. “I was trying to go inside to Simon (Onabowale) or Clint (Hamilton) where we would have had a better shot and maybe pick up a foul. It just happened I ended up free at the foul line and let it go.” It was Cianci’s only bucket of the game. “It was a good shot,” said Redmen coach Ken Schildroth. “It was the result of a simple recognition of what they gave us. There was too much time left when he took it though.” Clint Hamilton paced McGill with 18. Simon Onabowale added 16, Bernie Rosanelli 13 and Patrick Arsenault 13. McGill shot .510 from the floor, while Concordia was .410. Craig Norman led the Stingers with 24. Biagio Caresse added 12, Chris Francis 10 and Rob Latter 10. Latter also grabbed 8 boards and blocked 9 shots. McGill led 37-36 at the half on a 25-footer by Onabowale at the buzzer. They fell behind 50-47 early in the second half but appeared to gain momentum when Francis missed a pair from the line that would have extended Concordia’s lead to five. Stingers coach Doug Daigneault said his troops failed to get the ball into the proper hands consistently. “Rob Latter touched the ball only 11 times on Sunday,” said Daigneault of his 6-foot-8 centre. “When we were going well, he had it 20 times in a game.”
