The Stingers led 45-21 at the half and opened the second half with a 20-4 run.         In the final, top-seeded Concordia defeated 2nd-seeded McGill 84-79 as Ron Puskarich scored 44, John Erglis 12, John Dore 11 and Bob Brix 10. Larry Gibson led the Redmen with 29. Puskarich put Concordia ahead for good with a bucket that made it 52-51. He scored 20 the Stingers last 34 points. McGill closed to within one on five occasions down the stretch. Concordia coach Doug Daigneault told the Montreal Gazette that “McGill played a really super game.” Redmen coach Butch Staples said “that’s as fine a ball game as I’ve seen him (Puskarich) play. The thing is that Concordia is able to match up better against Larry (Gibson) than we were against Puskarich. But I don’t want to take anything away from him. He played a tremendous game.” Bob Brix said “we were tight but there’s no doubt about it. That God, Ron was hitting. I don’t know where we’d be without him because the rest of us didn’t do much.” Redmen coach Butch Staples told the McGill Daily that “I think we played an awfully good game. We had some outstanding individual efforts. Gerry Ostroff had 16 rebounds and 12 points and played his finest game of the year, but we couldn’t quite do it.” Gibson said for McGill after four years at Rhode Island College “gave me a chance to do things I’d never done before. I was always a small guy on the court at Rhodes Island.”
