In the regular season, Loyola romped to an (18-0) record.
Early in the season, the Universite du Quebec @ Montreal advised the conference that it would join Sherbrooke and Laval in refusing to play games against Loyola because the Warriors were so packed with Americans on their roster. Loyola had just one Canadian on its team. Loyola won six games by default as a consequence.

In the semis, Loyola defeated the Royal Military College Redmen 83-48 as Ron Puskarich scored 25, Bob Brix 18, Wayne Hussey 14 and John Erglis 6, while dishing 12 assists. Steve Lucas led R.M.C. with 13.
In the other semi, Bishop’s defeated Sir George Williams 87-79 as Marc Gagnon scored 26, Angus Haig 18, Jimmy Ivy 13 and Jon Field 12. The Gaiters led 27-17 after one quarter. The Georgians led 44-39 at the half. Gaiters coach Garth Smith told the Montreal Gazette that “we really tried to give them the game. If it hadn’t been for our defence keeping (Tom) Brethel away from the basket in the second half, we might not have won the game.” Tom Brethel scored 32, including 26 in the first half. Jeff Neiman added 22 and Mike Hickey 10 for the Georgians. Georgian post Terry O’Brien twisted his ankle in the first minute of play. Tom Brethel, who was suffering from the flu, told the Loyola that “I just ran out of gas. All my shots in the second half were short and I couldn’t hit the boards very well.”
In the final, Loyola thrashed Bishop’s 86-60 as John Erglis scored 18, as did Wayne Hussey, the sole Canadian on the Loyola squad. Ron Puskarich added 14 and Fred Moczulski 13. Bruce Stevenson paced the Gaiters with 14. Albany, NY-product Jim Ivy added 11 and Marc Gagnon 11. John Erglis told the Montreal Gazette that “their zone was just sagging in, letting me take the easy shot from the head of the key.” Gaiters coach Garth smith said “we planned on going in and stopping their big men, and we did that. But we forgot their backcourt and they killed us.” Loyola was coached by Doug Daigneault, a graduate of Clemson University, who once played for the Ottawa Fellers Sr. A men’s team. Loyola won its first seven of the season including a 72-67 victory over Waterloo and ran the table in conference play. On the season, Fred Moczulski scored 496, Ron Puskarich 464 and Stu Laframboise 308. Erglis notched 11 assists in the final, while Hussey dished 9.
After the season, Kingston’s Royal Military College withdrew from the league to join the OUAA.
