In the quarterfinals, the Ottawa Gee-Gees defeated the McMaster Marauders 53-48. The Gee-Gees led 27-20 at the half and used a 12-0 run over two minutes with four minutes to play to pull out the win. Vicki Harber paced the Gee-Gees with 16. Kathy Kingsbury added 13. Jill Jarry led the Marauders with 14. The Marauders also included Kathy Helm.
In the other quarterfinal, the Queen’s Golden Gaels defeated Guelph?? X-x. The Gryphons (coached by Valerie Freeman, manager Cyndy Anderson) included Sue Kaye, Peggy LeSuer, Jane Greaves, Angela Baytalan, Halinka Sojczynski, Peggy Stoddert, Jill Finlin, Mary Proc, Joanne Brakland, Marg Uglig, Judy Antonio and Meran Hartman.
In the semi-finals, the Western Mustangs defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 69-65 in overtime. The game was tied at 58 in regulation play but in overtime two quick field goals by Sheila Hicks and Martha McKeague put Western on top to stay. Eleanor McKeague led Western with 20 points. Hicks added 17.
In the other semi, Kathy Jennings and Deb Roman each tossed in 14 as Laurentian beat Queen’s 72-38 as Cathy Jennings scored 14, Eileen Galuska 13, along with 11 boards, Donna Roman 13 and Cindy Feren 10, along with 12 boards. Michele Belanger nabbed 8 boards. The Voyageurs led 42-11 at the half.
In the final, Kathy Williams scored 24, Kathy Jennings 14, Michelle Belanger 14 and Eileen Galuska 10 in leading Laurentian to a 75-49 victory over Western. Jane Riddell paced Western with 12. Barb Estey added 7, Eleanor McKeague 6 and Les McIntosh 6.
