In the semis, held at Toronto’s Hart House, McGill defeated Queen’s 43-40. The score was knotted at 22 at the half. Anne Turnbull and Ruth Wellsman each scored 16 to pace the Martlets. Pat Radcliffe and Daria Shoemaker each scored 12 to pace the Golden Gaels. Mollie McConnell added 11 and Norma Higgs 5. The Redmen his 7-16 from the line, while the Gaels were 8-20.
In the other semi, Toronto thrashed Guelph 52-14 as Shirley Roberts scored 16 and Sally Wallace 13.
In the bronze medal match, Queen’s whipped Guelph 31-13. The Gaels were led in scoring by Daria Shoemaker, Mollie McConnell and Pat Radcliffe. Ruth Whitehead led the Gryphons with 9. The Gryphons also included Margot Demaray, Yvonne Badle.
In the final, Toronto dumped McGill 44-32 as Joan Mooney scored 12. Sally Wallace added 9 and Carol Dobson 8. The Varsity Blues led 21-15 at the half. Ruth Rice topped McGill with 14.
