In the semis, held in Kingston, McGill defeated Western 29-20 as Molly Camp scored 12, Shirley Nalevykin 6, Elaine Ritchie 5, Louise McFarland 4, Dorothy Nichol 2 and Roberta Tyler 1. McGill effectively utilized a “system of short passes,” according to the Queen’s Journal. Jean Shillington led Western with 9. Mabel Gillan added 6 and Anna Baker 5.

       In the other semi, the Queen’s Golden Gaels (then the Gaelettes) dumped Toronto 19-7 as Barbara Clark scored 6, Pat Gardiner 5, Joan Keough 4 and Marion Reid 4. The Gaels befuddled the Varsity Blues with what the Queen’s Journal described as a “straight line zone defence.” Gwen Smith paced Toronto with 6. C. Dunne added 1.

       In the bronze medal match, Western defeated Toronto 18-11 (or 15-9, according to the Queen’s Journal) as Mabel Gillen scored 14 and Jean Shillington 4. Rosanna Kelly and Gwen Smith paced Toronto with 4 each. Carol Dunne added 2 and Phyl Carscallen 1. The Blues (coached by Joan Davis) also included Lillian Laasko, Jean Kaufman, Jane Cloke, Jean MacDonald, Mary-Clare Thomas and Eleanor Lever.

       In the final, Queen’s defeated McGill 16-14 as Joan Keough and Pat Gardiner scored 7 points down the stretch to pull out the win for the Golden Gaels. Keough, who notched the winning layup with 30 seconds to play, finished with 13. Gardiner added 2 and Janet Truckenbrodt 1. The Gaels led 6-5 at the half. Louise MacFarlane paced McGill with 7. Molly Camp added 6 and Shirley Nalevykin 1.
