A.G. ‘Bud’ Fraser added 10, Sam Roth 9, Smiley Wilson 6, Don Atkin 5, Chick Bloom 5 and Bob Duford 1. …………………………………………………… In the season finale, the Western Mustangs suffered their first loss in three SIBL campaigns as they were shaded 50-48 in overtime by host Toronto. Wally Zeaton scored the tying and winning buckets “on spectacular one-hand push shots from centre floor.” Bob Phibbs and Paul Thomas gave Western an early lead but Toronto rallied to knot the score at 12 at the quarter. Jack Swan gave the Varsity Blues a 27-18 lead at the half as Toronto held Western off the scoreboard for five minutes. Western ripped off a 9-0 run to start the second half to take the lead as George Wearring took command in the paint. But Toronto regained its wits and the teams battled down the stretch. In the final minute, Western missed several free throws and Toronto missed four free throws as the teams battled to avoid a 44-44 tie. With 10 seconds remaining Bob Phibbs fouled Bruce Tettmar and scrappy John McManus got into his second punch exchange with the Mustang star. In ensuing melee, McManus was tossed from the game and Phibbs awarded two free throws for a flagrant foul, missing both. Western got another shot at the line, when Barry Lowes pushed Paul Thomas but he missed both free throws. George Wearring gave Western a 48-46 lead in overtime with a minute to play in the extra session but Wally Zeaton hit two long bombs, the final one with three seconds on the clock. EAST INTERMEDIATE

       The Sir George Williams Georgians captured the title.

       Macdonald won its four opening games of the campaign, defeating Sir George Williams, McGill Intermediates and Montreal. They lost to Dawson twice, once by a 35-31 count, and in the critical game of the year, lost to Sir George Williams 55-41. The Aggies closed out the season by thumping Bishop’s 63-33. Sir George Williams iced the title by defeating the McGill Intermediates in their final game of season.

A challenge match was arranged between the Toronto Intermediate Blues and Sir George Williams Georgians to determine a mythical Dominion intercollegiate titlist. The Blues prevailed 72-30 as Gough scored 20, Tyndall 11, Bruce Coulter 10, Warrick 10, Art Anderson 8, Stockman 6, Ted Luck 4 and Volpe 3, while Cass was scoreless. Flynn led the Georgians with 11. McFarlene added 5, Bannerman 5, Craig 4, Pappus 3 and Stafford 2, while McLeod was scoreless.
