In the finals, Winnipeg defeated Regina 69-47; 78-46 (2g-0).

In game one, Winnipeg throttled Regina 69-47 as Kathy Dubesky tossed in 18 points and Angie Johnson 14. Debbie Smith led Regina with 16. The Wesmen were ahead 34-22 at the half and shot .420 from the floor. “Their style of play is very different from ours,” Winnipeg coach Vic Pruden told the Winnipeg Free Press. “My girls are very ladylike while Regina is an aggressive team. They used that against us and didn’t let us play the way we wanted to. We didn’t play as well in we can but I guess it was good enough.” Pruden told the Regina Leader-Post that “everything went according to play. We played steady tonight and we have confidence we can wrap it up in two games. We’re just beginning to peak. … (Dubesky) has that vast experience and she is really tough.” Angie Johnson said “we had trouble with Regina on their own court (during the regular season) because they wouldn’t let us do what we do best. We ran the show tonight.” Cougars coach Sue Higgs said “our defence broke down and allowed them too many inside shots.” Winnipeg outrebounded Regina 36-35. The Cougettes were returning to the league after a two-year absence.

In game two, Winnipeg defeated Regina 78-46 after leading 32-31 at the half. “Then we came out for the second half looking like a different team, playing the kind of game we’ve been striving for all year,” Wesmen coach Vic Pruden told the Winnipeg Free Press. Angie Johnson scored 22 for Winnipeg. Dori McPhail added 20, Cathy Dubesky 14 and Lucy Burdz 10. Debbie Smith led Regina with 19. The Wesmen exploded for a 26-5 run in the third quarter. “They never played that kind of defence against us before,” Regina coach Sue Higgs told the Winnipeg Free Press, adding that the home court advantage was the difference. “But I’d like to set the record straight and we’re always getting flack, especially from this quarter, about being an aggressive team. That’s just not true. We don’t get any more penalties than anybody else.” Pruden told the Regina Leader-Post that “they’re a tough team, extremely aggressive. … We looked like we were dead in the first half but came out in the second half like there was blood flowing.” Winnipeg outrebounded Regina 45-18, led by 12 each from Johnson and Burdz. Cougars coach Sue Higgs said “I think we’ve done well for our first year back. … Our team was giving away so much height that we would have to play absolutely super to beat them.”
