In the finals, Manitoba, which had finished undefeated at (12-0) during the regular season, defeated Lakehead 104-82; 88-68 (2g-0).

In game one, Manitoba’s all-Canadian Angus Burr was hobbled by a sore ankle, which had prevented him from practicing all week. But he scored 16 as the Bisons thrashed Lakehead 104-82. Rick Watts scored 43 to lead Manitoba. Watts hit 20-25 from the floor as the Bisons destroyed Lakehead’s man-to-man defence. In four meetings during the season, Lakehead had used a zone but went to a man-to-man in hopes of an upset. Darryl Rumsey added 16 for Manitoba while Martin Riley tossed in 15. Jeff Watson led Lakehead with 28 points.

In game two, Manitoba took a slim 34-32 lead at the half but exploded for 54 points in the second half to rout Lakehead 88-68. Darryl Rumsey and Rick Watts each scored 20, while Doug Freeth tossed in 16 and Burr 9. “Lakehead played a very physical first half,” said Bisons coach Don Hunter. “They kept pressing us and they upset our offence – we were forced to take bad shots, time and time again. The second half was a different story. The guys knew what they had to do and they went out and got the job done. We began pressing Lakehead and they were the ones who were taking the bad shots in the last half.” Jeff Watson paced Lakehead with 16 points. James MacKey added 15.
