Lisa Janz paced the Pandas with 17. Yolanda Kruger added 14, Linda Mrkonjic 10, Patti Smith 2, Cheryl Galenza 2 and Michelle Durand 2, while Heather Smith, Virginia Meyer, Zofia Yeomans, Kathy Keats and Margaret Uytdewlligen were scoreless. Alberta shot 22-49 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc, while garnering 19 fouls, 18 boards, including 4 on the offensive glass, 22 turnovers and 7 assists. “It’s not exactly what we wanted to do in the playoffs,” said Alberta’s Yolanda Kruyer. “But give them credit. They’re a great team and they played like it.”
In the other semi, Lethbridge edged Calgary 76-74 as Sharon Hamilton scored 18, Jodie Savage 12, Dori Rodzinyak 10, Dawn Fry 9, Shawna Molcak 9, Pauline Van Roessel 8, Margie Gal 6 and Angela Hlavka 4, while Stephanie Hlady, Karen McConnell, M.J. Sorenson and Laura Bethlehem were scoreless. Veronica Vanderschee led the Dinosaurs with 27. Debbie Patterson added 25, Claire Mitenko 6, Laura Ryckman 6, Jodi Evans 4, Karen Degner 4 and Cori Blakebrough 2, while Sharon Auld, Kristi Kempf, Anita Briscoe, Leslie Morgan and Lisa Shirok were scoreless. The Dinosaurs shot 18-45 from the floor, 2-2 from the arc and 21-27 from the line, while garnering 14 fouls, 31 boards, including 14 on the offensive glass, 25 turnovers and 11 assists. Dori Rodzinyak paced the Pronghorns with 10. Angela Hlavka added 10, Sharon Hamilton 8, Jodi Savage 8, Shawna Molcak 4, Pauline Van Roessel 4, Dawn Fry 3 and Margie Gal 2, while Stephanie Hlady, Karen McConnell, M.J. Sorenson and Laura Bethleheim were scoreless. The Vikettes shot 23-48 from the floor, 1-4 from the arc and 17-19 from the line, while garnering 13 fouls, 31 boards, including 8 on the offensive glass, 19 turnovers and 11 assists. The Pronghorns shot 19-57 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc and 8-12 from the line, while garnering 22 fouls, 25 boards, including 10 on the offensive glass, 15 turnovers and 8 assists. “We played as hard as we could,” said Pronghorns coach Cal O’Brien. “We had nine more shots, we outrebounded them and they had more turnovers than us. We actually outplayed them, but we didn’t outshoot them. They were also 17 for 19 from the foul line which helped.”
