Saskatchewan and Calgary both finished 13-7 in the standings but the Huskies received the berth to the playoffs because they’d defeated the Dinosaurs 3g-1 during their regular season matchups.
In the playoffs (a best of 3 final, no semis) Victoria defeated Saskatchewan 83-53; 89-62 (2g-0).
In the opener, Victoria pounded Saskatchewan 83-53. The Vikings used a 9-0 run and a 6-0 run in second quarter to take a 33-18 lead at the half. “When they scored those points near the half, they just put it out of reach,” Huskies coach Pat Jackson told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. Luanne Hebb led Victoria with 16. Shelley Godfrey added 15 for Victoria, which hit .480 from the floor. Judy Lang led Saskatchewan with 11. Sheila Brennan added 10. The Huskies shot .420 from floor.
In game two, Victoria defeated Saskatchewan 89-62 as Luanne Hebb scored 23 and Tracie McAra 20. Victoria led 50-25 at the half. Sheila Brennan led the Huskies with 17. Sheryl Kleckner added 13.
