        In the postseason playoffs, Western division champions UBC faced Manitoba, second in the east, in the semi and won 57-27 as Terri McGovern scored 14 and Debbie Phelan 10. The Bisonettes were led by Karen Palmer 6 and Judy Nordquist 6.

        In the other semi, eastern division leader Saskatchewan defeated Victoria 51-37 as Barb Drake scored 14 and Debbie Shogan 11. Victoria was let by Yvonne Letellier’s 10 points. Saskatchewan was shut out for first five minutes but Vic only led 2-0. Saskatchewan tied the game at eight with 11 minutes gone. Barb Drake hit six straight points for Saskatchewan, including a 20-foot jumper, a drive and a layup off a Heather Witzel feed. Saskatchewan was up 21-14 at the half. Vic rallied to within 26-25 before Drake fed Shogan for a field goal and Saskatchewan assumed control. Drake finished with 14 points. Debbie Shogan scored 11 on 7-8 from the line and 15 boards. Heather Witzel added 10, Barb Henson 7, Sherill Roberts 7, along with 11 boards, Barb Henson 8 and Dot Czarnota 2, while Nancy Sanderson, Noreen Johnson, Lorraine Wright, Karen Kusler and Karen Taylor were scoreless. Yvonne Letellier led Victoria with 10. Dierdre Ogden added 8, Rose Jossul 7, Lorna McHattie 5, Pan Henson 5, Gail Clarkson 2 and Eva Van Wouw 1, while Mary Clarkson, Laury Atkinson and Judy Pearson were scoreless. Huskies coach Pat Jackson said “we were tight. We weren’t reacting to the defence they threw at us. Simply stated, we stood around far too much.” Saskatchewan shot 18-65 (.280) from the floor and 15-24 from the line, while nabbing 40 boards. Vic shot .210 from floor, 3-of-12 from the line and grabbed 36 boards.

        In the bronze medal match, Victoria nipped Manitoba 46-44 after leading 23-21 at the half. Gail Carlson led the Vikettes with 9. Rose Jussul added 8, Yvonne Letellier 8, Lorna McHattie 8, Dierdre Ogden 7, Pam Henson 4 and Laury Atkinson 2, while Mary Clarkson, Judy Pearson and Eva Van Wouw were scoreless. Barbara Hall paced the Bisonettes with 13. Donna Mallette added 11, Karen Palmer 7, Dwenda Stephen 4, Shona Stuart 4, Donna Crowe 2, Judy Nordquist 2 and Brenda Richardson 1, while Denise Greenaway, Carol Graham, Cheryl Kristiansen and Bernice Hart were scoreless.

        In the final, U.B.C. defeated Saskatchewan 53-27 as Debbie Phelan scored 12, Terri McGovern 11, Jan Gee 10 and Bev Barnes 8. The Thunderbirds held Saskatchewan scoreless for first seven minutes and to two points in first seven minutes of second quarter with tough man-to-man defence. Saskatchewan led 11-10 with seven minutes left in first half and then the roof fell in. National team member Wendy Grant stole the ball and fed Peggy Robinson to give UBC the lead. Then Debbie Phelan hit three field goals and it was 20-11 at the half. UBC opened the second half with a 13-2 run. UBC shot .330 from floor and grabbed 32 boards. Saskatchewan was paced by eastern division scoring champ Heather Witzel 8. Debbie Shogan added 6 and grabbed 10 boards. Sherill Roberts grabbed 11 boards. The Huskies shot .200 from floor and grabbed 31 rebounds.
