In a round robin tourney held at Edmonton, Saskatchewan and Alberta both easily defeat Manitoba, and then the Huskies defeated the Bears 35-21 in the finale to win the crown. “The Huskiettes showed a distinct advantage in both height and shooting ability, which proved to be too tough a nut for the Pandas to crack. Especially outstanding was the play of Sandra Therrien of the Huskiettes, who was the sparkplug for the Saskatchewan team. The sterling play of Bev Coward and Jean Harvie was not enough to overcome the high-powered Huskiettes, but the Pandas went down fighting in a losing cause, and displayed a crowd-pleasing brand of ball to the satisfaction of all present,” according to the Green & Gold.

Saskatchewan thrashed Manitoba 62-9 as Sandra Therrien scored 17, Joan Benson 12, Dianne Thompson 10, Grace Jasper 7, Myrna Needham 5, Gail Whittaker 4, Elizabeth Carnegie 2, Carol Lambert 2, Eleanor East 2 and Sandra Wright 2. Donna Patton led Manitoba with 3. Diane Smith added 2, Marily McEacheran 2, Ruth Brehaut 1 and Natalie Klymkiw 1.

Alberta dumped Manitoba 64-23 as Loretta Hoffos scored 12, Betty Fisher 9, Jean Harvie 9, Mary Hendricksen 9, Bev Coward 9, Lorraine Adams 4, Nora Wellbourn 4 and Sylvia Shaw 4. Ruth Brehaut and Linda Hart each scored 7 to pace Manitoba. Donna Patton added 4, Marily McEachern 4, Carol White 3 and Natalie Klymkiw 2.

Saskatchewan defeated Alberta 35-21 to finish (2-0). The Huskies speed and marksmanship roved Alberta undoing. Sandra Therrien paced the Huskies with 13. Dianne Thompson added 6, Grace Jasper 6, Carol Lambert 4, Gail Whittaker 2, Eleanor East 2 and Joan Benson 2. Bev Coward paced Alberta with 9. Jean Harvie added 4, Sylvia Shaw 4 and Loretta Hoffos 4.
