        In February, students vote at the University of Alberta for the women’s teams to be known as the Pandas. Other possibilities included the Golden Pandas, the Teddy Bears and the Bruinettes.

Alberta defeated Manitoba 49-29 after leading 20-10 at the half. Vera Hole led the Pandas with 23. June Causgrove added 13, Callaway 7, Krys 4 and Dunlop 2, while Stanley, Jones, Howard and Moll were scoreless. Aliza Boroditsky and Doris Peto each scored 8 to pace the Bisons. V Peto added 6, Miller 3, Weiss 2, Atkinson 2, Dowler 1 and Johannesson 1, while Thora Austman was scoreless.

        Host Saskatchewan nipped Alberta 37-35. Alberta took a 25-19 lead at the half but Saskatchewan defenders Hay and Walker rallied the Huskies. Alberta led 34-29 when Sylvia Callaway was hauled off the floor in a state of exhaustion. Within a minute, Gretta Schwartz and Aldis Peterson had rallied the Huskies into the lead. Vera Hole tied the score with 10 seconds to play. June Causgrove overthrew Frances Stanley on the inbounds play and Mary Varey nailed the winter from the centre line as the buzzer sounded. Gretta Schwartz paced the Huskies with 14. Aldis Peterson added 8, Polly Hay 6, Mary Varey 4, Thelma Walker 4 and Shirley Webb 1, while Jean Storey, Dot Stillwell, Barbara Makaroff, Bea Eastwood and Sheila Cairns were scoreless. Vera Hole scored 18 to lead the Pandas. June Causgrove added 6, Sylvia Callaway 5, Eleanor Krys 4 and Dorothy Jones 2, while Frances Stanley, Howard, Lois Dunlop and Herta Moll were scoreless.

        Saskatchewan thrashed Manitoba 58-20 as Shirley Webb scored 22 and Aldis Patterson 14. Margaret Atkinson led the Bisons with 5. Aliza Boroditsky added 4.

        According to the Gateway, Saskatchewan defeated host Alberta 30-29 as Shirley Webb hit the winner in the final minute. Shirley Webb paced the Huskies with 15. Aldis Peterson added 9, Gretta Schwartz 8 and Mary Varey 3, while Polly Hay, Thelma Walker, Jean Storey, Dot Stillwell, Barbara Makaroff, Bea Eastwood and Sheila Cairns were scoreless. Vera Hole paced the Pandas with 17. Sylvia Callaway added 3, June Causgrove 3 and Dorothy Jones 1, while Frances Stanley, Eleanor Krys, Lori Dunlop and Herta Moll were scoreless.
