Saskatchewan and Alberta each won a pair of games at home, with Saskatchewan winning the title on point differential Manitoba played three exhibition games.

In Edmonton, Alberta defeated Saskatchewan 25-20 and 32-27. …………………………………………………… In game one, Alberta prevailed 25-20. Alberta led 12-97 at the half but Doc Howden rallied the Huskies to a 19-18 lead. McElroy countered with a pair of free throw and a bucket for Alberta. Howden hit a free throw but Reikie hit a long jumper to give Alberta a 24-20 lead before Sammy Moscovitch added a free throw. Jack Stokes paced Alberta with 7. Brick Younie added 4, Bob Reikie 4, McElroy 4, Stan Cameron 3, Al Dobson 2 and Sammy Moscovitch 1, while Dick Shillington and Tom Pain were scoreless. Doc Howden led Saskatchewan with 10. Alf Street added 4, Sammy Kling 2, Harold McFarland 2, George Beatty 1 and Johnson 1, while Ron Stafford, Bill Taylor, Jack McQueen, Vern Koehn and Bill Beaton were scoreless. …………………………………………………… In game two, Alberta dispatched Saskatchewan 32-27 as Stokes scored 8, Younie 8, Moscovitch 6, McElroy 4, Reikie 3 and Cameron 3, while Shillington, Dobson and Pain were scoreless. McFarland led the Huskies with 9. Howdon added 7, Street 2, Taylor 2, Wilson 2, McQueen 2, Kling 2 and Stafford 1, while Beatty, Koehn, Beaton and Johnston were scoreless.

In Saskatoon, the Huskies beat the Bears 37-33 and 39-24. …………………………………………………… In game one, Saskatchewan’s “short, crisp passing attack seemed to give the close-checking Bears and little difficulty.” …………………………………………………… In game two, Saskatchewan dominated, leading 15-7 at the half and then romping when Brick Younie fouled out for the Bears.

Alberta then forayed to Manitoba in two exhibition games, which they won, 22-17 and 30-26. …………………………………………………… In game one, Alberta prevailed 22-17 as Brick Younie scored 7, Stokes 5, Cameron 5 and Moscovich 5, while Shillington, Pain, Dobson and Reikle were scoreless. Art Lang led the Bisons with 7. Wilbur ‘Bill’ Guest added 6, Bill Jarrett 2 and Johnny Williams 2, while Desmond Burke-Gaffney, Bob Ashley, Bob Wallace, Walter Ehrlich, Cockburn McCallum and Don Whitley were scoreless. Manitoba (coached by Henry Schendel and managed by Ralph Borrowman) also included George Thurber. Alberta’s slow and deliberate strategy aggravated the Bisons. “Manitoba favors a simple, screening type of offensive with only one,” reported the Gateway. “This type of play fitted in with the Bears’ defence scheme very well, enabling them to tie up the U of M so that they were only able to attempt long shots and try for the rebounds. However, Younie and Stokes took care that very few rebounds went astray.” …………………………………………………… In game two, Alberta coasted and won 30-26 as Brick Younie scored 6. Tommy Pain added 6.

In an exhibition, Saskatchewan defeated Manitoba 37-34 as Wilson scored 16, Howden 11, Stafford 8, McQueen 1 and Beatty 1, while McFarland, Kling, Cherry, Koehn, Taylor, Street and Beaton were scoreless. Don Whitley led the Bisons with 8. Cockburn McCallum added 5, Johnny Williams 4, George Thurber 3, Bill Jarrett 2 and Bob Wallace 2, while Desmond Burke-Gaffney was scoreless.
