        With plans for an intercollegiate tourney having fallen through, Saskatchewan visited Alberta in a two-game elimination series and was soundly trounced by counts of 31-16 and 37-19.

Manitoba did not compete because of financial woes, or as the Manitoba noted, “SUPERIOR AUTHORITY” made it impossible for them to send a team to the tournament. The Bisons (who participated in a Winnipeg intermediate league) included Norman Johnson, Charles Proudfoot, Joe Downey, Arthur Martin, Gordon Earl, Mervin Sprung, Donald Wright, George Furnival, R Glass, J Downie, Cleve Gerry and manager L.S. Reycraft.

In game one, Saskatchewan led 8-2 at the start and 11-10 after one quarter but Alberta rallied to a 17-13 lead at the half and then pulled away in the second session to notch a 31-16 win. Bill Pullishy paced the Golden Bears with 12. Bill Shandro added 7, Merton Keel 5, Fenerty 3, Gordon Keel 2 and Carscallen 2, while Addie Donaldson, Wayne Matkin, Royce Craig, Harold Killick and Wood were scoreless. Webster McGuire led Saskatchewan with 6. Howard Urquhart added 4, Ken Johnston 2, Pete Graham 2 and Hugh Bell 2, while Russ Hopkins, Doug Shaw and Mickey McAdam were scoreless.

In game two, Alberta prevailed 37-19 after leading 14-8 at the half. Merton Keel paced Alberta with 7. Addie Donaldson added 6, Bill Pullishy 6, Gordon Keel 4, Bill Shandro 4, Buzz Fenerty 3, A Carscallen 2, Wayne Matkin 2 and Royce Craig 2, while Harold Killick and Wood were scoreless. Ken Johnston, Howard Urquhart and Russ Hopkins each scored 4 to lead the Huskies. Pete Graham added 3, Hugh Bell 3 and Mickey McAdam 1, while Webster McGuire and Doug Shaw were scoreless.

Alberta then forayed to U.B.C., which was competing for the Rigby Cup for the first time, and promptly lost a pair by scores of 21-18 and 28-18. …………………………………………………… In game one, Alberta led 7-3 at the start but the Thunderbirds rallied to a 11-9 lead at the half. Alberta regained the lead at 18-15 before losing Mert Keel and Carscallen to fouls, which allowed UBC to dominate the paint. Harry Campbell paced UBC with 8. Randy Tervo added 6, Laurie Nicholson 3, Arnold Henderson 2, Rob Chapman 1 and Frank Alpen 1, while Cy Lee, Simpson and Ed Armstrong were scoreless. Bill Shandro led Alberta with 5. Gordon Keel added 5, Merton Keel 4 and Addie Donaldson 4, while Bill Pullishy, Buzz Fenerty, A Carscallen, Harold Killick and Keel were scoreless. …………………………………………………… In game two, UBC led 23-6 at the half. Although Alberta dominated the third quarter 12-5, UBC held on for the win. Arnold Henderson paced with 10. Bob Osborne added 6, Harry ‘Pi’ Campbell 6, Laurie Nicholson 5, Cy Lee 4, Randy Tervo 4 and Frank Alpen 2, while Ed Armstrong, Simpson and Bob Chapman were scoreless. Merton Keel led Alberta with 7. Addie Donaldson added 5, Gordon Keel 3, Bill Pullishy 2 and Bill Shandro 1, while Matkin, Carscallen, Killick and Fenerty were scoreless. …………………………………………………… The U.B.C. squad, featuring Arnold Henderson, Harry Campbell and Bob Osborne, were declared the Rigby Cup champs. The Thunderbirds also won the senior A men’s national title in 1931.
