In the quarterfinals, the 4th-seeded New Brunswick Varsity Reds clipped the 5th-seeded Prince Edward Island Panthers 76-65. The Varsity Reds led 18-12 after one quarter. The Panthers ripped off a 10-0 run in the second quarter to knot the score at 21. With the game tied at 32-32 nearing the end of the half, a jump shot from Varsity Red guard Nicole LaFleur gave New Brunswick a 34-32 edge at the half. A UNB run late in the third allowed them to jump out to a 54-46 after three quarters. UNB extended the gap throughout the fourth quarter, holding a 66-49 lead with under seven minutes remaining. UPEI rallied within seven on free throws by Kiera Rigby but drew no closer. Rachel Cleary was chosen player of the game for the Varsity Reds, while Rigby earned the laurels for the Panthers. Grace Wade paced the Varsity Reds with 15 on 4-15 from the floor, 1-5 from the arc, 6-8 from the line, 5 boards and 4 assists. The Capers led 21-12 after one quarter and 34-24 at the half, then ripped off an 8-0 run and extended their lead to 57-35 after three quarters. Colleen Keane was chosen player of the game for the Capers, while Deidre Alexander earned the laurels for the Tigers. In the semis, the top-seeded Saint Mary’s Huskies clubbed the 4th-seeded New Brunswick Varsity Reds 62-36 after leading 13-12, 21-20 and 37-24 at the quarters. Rachelle Coward was chosen player of the game for the Huskies, while Laura Kaye earned the laurels for the Varsity Reds. Jenny Lewis paced the Huskies with 16 on 5-7 from the floor, 2-4 from the arc, 4-5 from the line and 3 boards. In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Cape Breton Capers nipped the 2nd-seeded Acadia Axewomen 59-57 on a last-minute bucket by Colleen Keane. The Capers team defence forced Acadia into eight first-quarter turnovers as Cape Breton took and 18-13 lead. Acadia closed to within 25-23 at the half and then knotted the score at 39 after three quarters. Keane notched several offensive boards and a three-point play with 2:22 to play to give the Capers a 52-47 lead, and then held on for the win. Keane was chosen player of the game for the Capers, while Paloma Anderson earned the laurels for the Axewomen. In the final, the top-seeded Saint Mary’s Huskies dispatched the 3rd-seeded Cape Breton Capers 63-49 to capture their fourth consecutive AUS crown. Jenny Lewis drilled a trio from beyond the arc as the Huskies built a 21-8 lead after one quarter. They led 34-25 at the half and 49-34 after three quarters. Hannah Brown notched a pair of buckets for the Capers early in the fourth quarter as they drew within 11. But they never seriously threatened. Angela Carvery was chosen player of the game for the Huskies, while Brown earned the laurels for the Capers. Angelina Carvery paced the Huskies with 15 on 5-15 from the floor, 4-9 from the arc and 1-2 from the line.
