In the semis, top-seeded Dalhousie defeated the 4th-seeded St. Mary’s Huskies 58-51 as Angie McLeod scored 18, Kelly Copeland 14 and Jennifer Clark 7. Kim Empey added 11 boards. Cindy Flynn paced St. Mary’s with 16. Allyson Cushing added 13, along with 11 boards and Cathy Callaghan 9. The Huskies led 28-26 at the half. Callaghan had drained a trey to draw St. Mary’s within 50-49 with 2:07 to play but the Tigers pulled away down the stretch by draining their free throws. Huskies coach Jill Healy told the St. Mary’s Journal that “I think we had out chances and if we had a little more poise in the last couple of minutes, we may have won.” Dalhousie had earned the right to host the playoffs by virtue of points differential in games with New Brunswick. The pair had finished tied atop the standings with 11-3 records.

In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded New Brunswick Red Bloomers whipped the 3rd-seeded Acadia Axettes 70-52 as Kara Palmer scored 28 and grabbed 13 boards. Jill Jackson added 12 and Laura Swift 11. New Brunswick led 35-23 at the half. Jennifer Lloyd paced Acadia with 29 points.

In the final, New Brunswick defeated Dalhousie 73-63 as Jennifer Hale scored 22, player of the game Jill Jackson 16, Kara Palmer 16 and Laura Swift 13. Mary K. Layes led Dalhousie with 18. Kelly Copeland added 12, Kim Empey 11, Angie MacLeod 11 and Jennifer Clark 10. Hale scored 13 as the Red Bloomers rallied from an 11-4 deficit to build a 38-33 lead at the half. Dalhousie rallied to within one with two minutes to play but “we remained calm,” said Bloomers coach Claire Mitton. “We have worked very hard to learn this as we have not always been this way. I am very hard on them. At halftime, I picked out my captain (Kara Palmer) and sent a message to the team through here.” Palmer responded with a dozen second half points, including a pair of clutch free throws with 1:53 to play. Jill Jackson delivered several critical assists down the stretch. “We call Kara our wide receiver and Jill our quarterback,” said Mitton.
