In the semis, the top-seeded UPEI Panthers defeated the 4th-seeded Acadia Axettes 70-58.
In the other semi, the 3rd-seeded Dalhousie Tigers dispatched the 2nd-seeded New Brunswick Red Bloomers 50-40 as Mary Cameron scored 18, while Trish McCormack and Kathy McCormack each notched double-doubles. The Tigers hit .390 from the floor. Pauline Lordon led the Red Bloomers with 6. The Red Bloomers hit .270 from the floor. Dalhousie led 15-8 early but the Red Bloomers rallied to a 20-19 lead. Trish McCormack gave the Tigers a 23-21 lead at the half with a late runner. Dalhousie took a 28-21 lead in the second half before the Varsity Reds rallied to within 36-33. Then the Tigers broke it open, taking a 44-35 lead as their triangle-zone defence and double-teaming befuddled the Red Bloomers. New Brunswick coach Claire Mitton told The Brunswickan “we played good dfence but we lost our ‘sync’ offensively. … We couldn’t seem to get Pauline in the flow. … We made adjustments at the half but we never got any easy baskets. … We really wanted to run. … We didn’t do the things we wanted to do in a running game. We walked the ball up the court and played their type of tempo. If we at least tried to push the ball a little bit, we would have put them in a pressure situation.”
In the final, the UPEI Panthers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 58-51.
