        The AUAA was officially formed April 25-74 from the members of the AIAA and AWIAA, i.e., Acadia, Dalhousie, Memorial, Moncton, Mt. Allison, New Brunswick, PEI, St. FX, Saint Mary’s, St. Thomas, and King’s College as an associate. The AWIAA had also included Mt. St. Vincent, and associates were NSAC, NS Teachers College and the St. John’s campus of the U of New Brunswick. At the meeting, it was decided that King’s not be included in basketball because “the athletic program is only at the junior varsity level.”

        In the regular season, Saint Mary’s romped to an (11-1) record.

        In the semis, the Acadia Axemen defeated the Mount Allison Huskies 86-70.

        In the other semi, the Saint Mary’s Huskies dusted the Prince Edward Island Panthers 109-83. (Also reported by the Santamarian as 88-60). Art Laffin led the Panthers with 28.

        In the bronze medal match, the Mount Allison Huskies thrashed the Prince Edward Island Panthers x-x. The Panthers (coached by Gary Heald) included Art Laffin, Mike Connolly, Phil Connolly, Jamie Ballem, Matthew Cutts, Bruce DeBarros, Tom Hibbert, Anson MacLauchlin, Jay Mongrone, Butch Postma, Gary Young and Beck.

        In the postseason final, the Saint Mary’s Huskies defeated Acadia 83-77.
