Manitoba’s Anne Smith was named recipient of the Nan Copp. The Amqui, Quebec-native led the country in scoring with a 24.3 ppg and free throw percentage .904.

Manitoba’s Coleen Dufresne was awarded the Ennis. With the selection, the 1976 Olympian and former University of Ottawa Gee-Gee earned her third national coach of year award.

        Joining Smith as 1st team All-Canadians were: Marjorie Kelly (Manitoba); Lisa Koop (Victoria); Elizabeth Hart (Toronto); and Leighann Doan (Calgary).

        The 2nd team All-Canadians were: Anne Gildenhuys (McGill); Jadranka Crnogorac (St. Mary’s); Angela Nobes (Western); Andrea Gottselig (Regina); and Stephanie Harrison (Laurentian). …………………………………………………… Gildenhuys, a product of Ottawa’s Elmwood High, an elite private girls’ school, led the country in scoring. “It’s a great way to end a career. It was definitely my best season. I took a lot more shots. I was the go-to player. The team looked to me, and I was more confident. After five years, I got the hang of it.” The 5th-year mechanical engineering student scored 479 points and was a first team all-star in the QUBL. She was second in the conference in free throw shooting (.753), fourth in field goal percentage (556) and fourth in rebounding (6.5rpg). Originally recruited to McGill as a volleyball player, she scored more than 30 points in seven games and was the Martlet’s leading scorer in 30 of 32 games. McGill finished 4-16 in conference play.
