Winnipeg’s Sandra Carroll was named the Nan Copp winner for an unprecedent third consecutive season. The 22-year-old biology major led the Wesmen to an 11-1 regular season record while averaging 30 ppg and draining 52 treys. “I’d like to thank my parents who aren’t here right now but maybe they’ll see (me) on TV or something,” said Carroll, who was also an academic All-Canadian. Carroll led Winnipeg to the previous two national crowns, and an 88-game winning streak, tying a 20-year record set by the men’s U.C.L.A. Bruins.

Winnipeg’s Tom Carroll captured his fourth, and third consecutive, Ennis award. The 48-year-old had led Winnipeg to the national tournament in 13 of his 16 years behind the bench. “It’s easy to coach when you have the kind of people I have day in and day out,” said Kendall.

Manitoba’s Marjorie Kelly was named the Shields winner after averaging 14.9 ppg for the third-ranked Bisons, who stepped Winnipeg’s record winning streak.

Joining Carroll as 1st-team All-Canadians were: Dianne Norman (Laurentian); Terri-Lee Johannesson (Manitoba); Michele Vesprini (Western); and Michelle Healey (Memorial).

The 2nd team All-Canadians were: Andrea Hutchens (Winnipeg); Justine Ellison (Toronto); Meagan Koch (Calgary); Vicky Tessier (McGill); and Christina Van Aert (Victoria)

Joining Kelly on the all-rookie unit were: Georgina Risnita (Windsor); Lara Asplin (Winnipeg); Janice Moseychuk (Cape Breton); and Rania Burns (Alberta).
