Victoria’s Eli Pasquale was named recipient of the Moser. Pasquale was deadly quick, a great penetrator and solid outside shooter. The Sudbury native played on the World University Games team in 1983 and the World’s Fair Tournament in 1983, in both of which Canada captured gold medals. The Arts & Sciences major was to become a fixture of the Canadian national team. “I’m very proud of the team and I also thank Ken Shields. It’s been very enjoyable out there,” Pasquale said. The 6-0 guard was a first-team Canada West all-star.
York’s Bob Bain was named recipient of the Aberdeen. Bain steered the Yeomen to a (14-0) OUAA East regular season record and a (32-6) overall record.
Joining Pasquale as 1st team All-Canadians were: Greg Wiltjer (Victoria); Karl Tilleman (Calgary); John Hatch (St. FX); and John Carson (Brandon). …………………………………………………… Wiltjer, a 6-11 post from Victoria, had toiled for Oregon State for two years before transferring back to Canada. The business administration major was a member of the Canadian national team that played at Universiade 83 and the Pan Am Games in 83. He was a first-team Canada West all-star. …………………………………………………… Carson, a 6-4 forward from North Carolina, averaged 21.1 ppg while being chosen a first-team GPAC all-star. …………………………………………………… Hatch, a 6-7 post from Calgary Bishop Carroll, averaged 22.8 ppg while being chosen the AUAA’s player of the year. Hatch was also a first-team AUAA all-star.
