Season wrap
Raptors close out the season 9-4 to finish 33-49 (13th in the east division) and again miss the playoffs. The season starts with a blockbuster trade which sees point guard T.J. Ford and others dispatched to the Indiana Pacers for six-time all-star Jermaine O’Neal. But inconsistency continues to plague the Raptors and not even a new jersey, which includes a maple leaf to mark them as Canada’s team, has an effect. Early in the season, Sam Mitchell is turfed as coach and replaced by assistant Jay Triano. O’Neil is soon dispatched to Miami and it is widely held that the Raptors again need to be rebuilt.
