        In semis, Coleen Dufresne and Sylvia Sweeney each scored 16 to lead the Montreal Marvels past the Halifax Midtown Seniors 63-51. Nancy Knowlton scored 18 and Hobin 17 for N.S, which had led 29-26 at the half.

         In other semi, the Hamilton Pavilions upset the five-time defending champ Vancouver Horizons 45-44 by closing them down in final minutes of the game. B.C. was held scoreless for the last five minutes. Ontario was down six but score nine in that interval. For Ontario, Linda Palango scored 16 and Theresa Grant 14. Ontario had been ahead 24-18 at the half. B.C. was paced by Sheila Strike’s 14 points.

        In the seventh-place contest, the Regina Roos thumped the Alberta Makoinacs as Linda Vail scored 22 and Donna Potts 21.

        In the fifth-place match, Angela Johnson scored 23 to lead the Winnipeg St. Vital Grads past New Brunswick 70-56.

        In the bronze medal match, the Vancouver Horizons defeated the Halifax Midtown Seniors 62-43 as Sheila Strike scored 26 and Joanne Sargeant 12. Halifax was led by Nancy Knowlton’s 10 points.

        In the final, led by three former national team members, the Montreal Marvels team breezed, defeating the Hamilton Pavilions 89-55. Sylvia Sweeney scored 35, Liz Silcott 29 and Coleen Dufresne 17. The Marvels were ahead 50-33 at the half. Linda Palango led Hamilton with 11, Marie McDonald and Theresa Grant each added 10. Hamilton was ahead 20-15 but a 23-4 run by Montreal put the game out of reach. Marvels coach Randy Phillips told the Montreal Gazette that “it was great, just great. We played them one at a time – that’s the only way to do it.”
