The Victoria Maplettes thrashed the UNB Red Bloomers 89-68 as Mary Coutts scored 20, including 10-12 from the line, Angie Radanovich 14, Jean Robertson 14, Laurie Sawden 14, Ann Van Schaik 11, Barb Tribe 10 and Dianna Brosuk 6, while Cecilia Van Shaik, Lorraine Tory and Doris Brozuk were scoreless. Victoria led 30-8 after one quarter and 54-30 at the half and shot 34-78 (.440) from the floor for the contest. The loss for the Sandra Robinson coached Red Bloomers was their first of the year. Karen Lee led New Brunswick with 26, Joyce Douthwright 11, Leslie Olmstead 8, Pat Bastarche 5, G Russell 5, M Watts 4, M Gray 4, L Kirk 2 and M Campbell 2, while A Fenety was scoreless.
Hamilton Paras Aluminum defeated the Edmonton Tigerettes 88-35 as Pat Tatham scored 16, Lindy Thomas 12, Norma Kowal 14 and Rose Boretsky 10. Hamilton was ahead 30-9 and breezed, shooting 34-72 (.470) from the floor. Edmonton coach Bob Townsend complained later of rough play. The Tigerettes were led by Lillian Stefure 8, Bunny Williams 5, Sheryl Poland 5 and Margo Case 5. The Tigerettes hit 12-53 from the floor.
Hamilton Paras Aluminum defeated the U New Brunswick Red Bloomers 61-59 as Pat Tatham scored 19, including 7-16 from the floor, Linda Thomas 10, Vale Savage 8 and Rose Boretsky 8. UNB, which shot 17-24 from the line, was paced by Karen Lee 21 and Joyce Douthwright 17.

Lillian Stefure scored 10 to paced Edmonton. A Boorman added 9, S Poland 6, J Chorney 3, B Williams 2, M Thompson 2, M Niblett 2 and M Case 2, while E White, P Conley, T Spear and M Park were scoreless.
In the battle for third, UNB thrashed the Edmonton Tigerettes 77-43 as Joyce Douthwright scored 17, Karen Lee 13 and Leslie Olmstead 13. Edmonton was led by Lillian Stefure and Margo Case, each 10.
In the match of undefeateds, the Victoria Maplettes defeated Hamilton Paras Aluminum 70-60 despite trailing 33-31 at the half and 44-42 at the three-quarter mark. Victoria had opened the contest with an 8-1 run but Hamilton had rallied to assume control of the game until the final six minutes, when Victoria broke the contest open. Victoria outscored Hamilton 28-16 in the final quarter, with Mary Coutts scoring 14, including 10 free throws, to finish the contest with 31 points. “She is like a machine,” said Hamilton coach Earl Begg. Coutts hit 17-18 from the line as Victoria was 26-38 from the stripe, while Hamilton was 14-22. “We were beaten at the line,” said Begg. Victoria coach Moe Turner had taken Coutts out in the third quarter because of foul trouble but when she returned it was game over. “I wasn’t going to play Mary. I was going to let her sit out. But I couldn’t,” said Turner. Jean Robertson and Laurie Sawden each added 11 for Victoria while Angie Radanovich added 8, Barb Tribe 5, Anne Van Schaik 2 and Diane Brozuk 2, while Celia Van Shaik, Lorraine Tory and Doris Brozuk were scoreless. “It wasn’t an artistic success,” said Turner. “We stank the place out in the first half. When we were down at the half, I thought we were out of it but the bench played very well and kept it close.” Hamilton was led by Pat Tatham’s 22 points, despite playing with an ankle injury and in foul trouble. Anne Hurley added 17, Vale Savage 8, Norma Kowal 5, Lindy Thomas 4 and Rosie Boretzky 4, while Mel Kennnedy, Sue Whitley, Betty McMilland and Sharon Kerr were scoreless. Lindy Thomas fouled out with 12 minutes to go.
