        In game one of the Quebec/Atlantic final, the Antigonish Scots won 39-35 after taking a 10-8 lead at the quarter and double the margin to 15 by the half. Montreal opened the second half with a 6-0 run but the Scots rallied to win it as Cordis MacIssac scored 20, Louise Maclellan 11, Bernice Murphy 4 and Evelyn Floyd 4. Montreal was led by Diane Barras 24, including 16-19 from the line, Tanya Bell 3, Sue Porter 3, Joy MacIntyre 3 and Sheila Hirsch 2.

        The East again opted not to participate in the national championships because they believed they weren’t competitive.

The national tourney was a round-robin draw held in Vancouver. The Richmond Merchants captured the title by going undefeated with a (3-0) record. The University of Saskatchewan Huskies finished second with a (2-1) record.

        The Richmond Merchants stomped Edmonton 71-35 as Darlene Currie scored 23, Mary MacDonald 20, Bev Coward 14, Marg Whitehead 4, Betty Mantyla 4, Cathy Thomson 3, Joan Lorenz 2 and Shelagh Farrell 1. Edmonton was led by Lorraine Tory 13, Marlene Kurt 9, Phyllis Schmitt 9 and Ileane Mousseau 2 and Betty Lou Archibald 2, while Diane Burton, Ellony Yurchuk, Claudette Menage and Jean Harvie were scoreless. Jasperettes coach Bob Davies told the Vancouver Sun that “our girls were simply bewildered out there. They can’t cope with jump shots and opponents who look one way and pass the other.”

        The Merchants defeated U.B.C. 74-38 as Darlene Currie scored 14, Mary McDonald 11, Kathy Thomson 11, Marg Whitehead 9, Bev Coward 9 and Betty Mantyla 6. Richmond led 41-20 at the half. The Thunderettes were led by Diane Bond 13, Marion Alexander 8, Diane Godfrey 6, Pat Dairon 4, Linda Kaser 3, Marlene Piper 2 and Barb Robertson 2.

        Richmond defeated the University of Saskatchewan Huskiettes 52-35 as Mary MacDonald scored 17, Darlene Currie 10, Joan Murran 9, Marg Whitehead 5, Bev Coward 4, Shelagh Farrell 4, Betty Mantyla 3 and Cathy Thomson 0. Saskatchewan was led by Peggy Robb 11, Nancy Schoenhals 6, Margaret Curry 5, Ann Davis 4, Heather Bell 4, Arlene Graham 2, Cynthia Wright 2 and Sharon Mardis 1, while Linda Anderson and Mary Ann Orton were scoreless. Saskatchewan led 26-20 at the half but Davis fouled out early in the second half and the Merchants began to dominate the boards in her absence.

        Saskatchewan had thumped U.B.C. 54-41 as Arlene Graham scored 10, Margaret Curry 7, Nancy Schoenhals 7, Linda Anderson 7, Ann Davis 7, Peggy Robb 5, Mary Ann Orton 5, Sharon Mardis 3, Heather Bell 3 and Cynthia Wright 3. U.B.C. was paced by Barb Robertson 7, Diane Godfrey 7, Marion Alexander 6, Karen Olson 6, Diane Bond 5, Pat Dairon 4, Barb Jellet 4, and Linda Kaser 2, while Marlene Piper were scoreless.

        Saskatchewan defeated Edmonton 54-46 as Arlene Graham pitched in 12, Peggy Robb 11, Heather Bell 10, Cynthia Wright 8, Ann Davis 6, Marg Curry 5 and Sharon Mardis 2. The Jasperettes were led by Betty Lou Archibald 10, Phyllis Schmitt 10, Lorraine Tory 9, Claudette Menage 6, Marlene Kurt 3, Ileane Mousseau 2, Diane Burton 2 and Ellony Yurchuk 2 and Jean Harvie 2.

        Edmonton topped U.B.C. 52-46 in its only win as Phyllis Schmitt tossed in 16, Jean Harvie 12, Lorraine Tory 8, Betty Lou Archibald 6, Diane Burton 4, Claudette Menage 4, and Marlene Kurt 2, while Ellony Yurchak and Ileane Mousseau were scoreless. U.B.C. was led by Barb Robertson 22, Diane Bond 7, Marion Alexander 6, Pat Dairon 3, Barb Jellett 2 and Linda Kaser 2, while Marlene Piper, Karen Olson and Diane Godfrey were scoreless.
