In the Nova Scotia final, the Dalhousie Tigers defeated the Mount St. Bernard Intermediates 52-20 as Donna MacRae scored 26 and Pam Dewis 11. The Tigers (coach Joanne Fryers, manager Mick Kirby) also included Libby MacRae, Heather Hebb, Joanne Murphy, Marcia Smith, Sheila Mason, Bobbie Wood, Jane Williams, Eve Smith, Jean Bremner, Gillian Ash, Eleanor Bainbridge, Sheila Mason and J Bremner. In game two, Hamilton prevailed 61-59 as Mary MacDonald notched an uncontested layup with 25 seconds to play. Hamilton led 38-28 at the half. The Merchants tied the game at 59 on two free throws by Zoe Shepherd and a field goal by Nora McDermoot. But Doreen Park fed Mary MacDonald for the winner with 25 seconds to play. In game three, Hamilton whipped Richmond 66-47 after leading 18-2, 35-27 and 48-40 at the quarters. Mary MacDonald led the Tigerettes with 19. In game four, guard Boots Spurr took control in the second quarter as the Tigerettes built a double-digit lead over the Richmond Merchants and never looked back as they rolled to a 55-45 win. Hamilton became the first Eastern team to win the crown since 1948 and avenged a loss in the 1947 final. The Tigerettes led 11-10, 29-24 and 36-27 at the quarters. The Merchants missed 15 consecutive shots in the third quarter. Spurr scored 18, including eight straight in the second quarter to erase a 19-15 deficit, as well as in the final five minutes. Marg Deas added 11, Mary MacDonald 8, Messecar 8, Parkinson 4 and McDermott 2, while Hawley, Park and Wigston were scoreless. Nora McDermott led the Merchants with 13.
