The play-in Canadian title saw Toronto British Consols default because they were unable or willing to come up with a financial guarantee for the Calgary Buffaloes. It was the East’s turn to host and pay. Toronto offered $100 but CABA ruled that the financial offer was totally inadequate.

Buffaloes are declared the Division II Canadian champs and could have challenged the Edmonton Grads for the crown. But they’d lost the Alberta senior open division to the Grads, while capturing the Division 2 Alberta title. The Buffaloes didn’t think they could compete and CABA rules that “as both were from one province, the series was dropped.”
