“Winnipeg won the Western title by winning from Saskatoon, after both B.C. and Alberta defaulted. Edmonton Grads were granted the privilege of making the trip to Europe and it was understood that their second team would carry on, but at the last minute they defaulted on account of some trouble they were having with B.C.. I strongly suggest that this matter be taken up at annual meeting. Windsor won the Eastern E. title when they defeated Montreal and when Winnipeg were unable to entertain them, they were named Canadian champions.”

Edmonton Grads were attending the Berlin Olympics for a demonstration series and did not compete in the 1936 championships after withdrawing to enable the team to obtain leaves of absence to foray to Germany. Playing in a series of European exhibitions, culminating in an 86-14 win over Paris, the Grads went undefeated in nine contests. The Grads (coached by J. Percy Page) included Gladys Fry, Noel MacDonald, Babe Belanger, Etta Dann, Mabel Munton, Doris Neale, Sophie Brown and Helen Northup.
