The guys kept missing the signals. … (Defensively), we did what we had to do with this club, pick them up early, not let them get their plays set.” Winnipeg coach Bob Hazell said “it was a tough one to lose. But I was proud of my boys for battling back. And we did with our bench after losing two starters (Ross Wedlake and Ted Stoesz) pretty early.”

We were robbed. It happens every year in this tournament. They bring referees in, which is a good idea, but then they bring bad ones. I don’t understand it.” Windsor assistant Bob Turner said “it wasn’t so much what they called, it was they didn’t call. There is just no way a team can go into a full-court press with eight minutes left and not draw enough fouls for us to get into a bonus situation.” Victoria was in the bonus, but Windsor never made it into bonus.
