        In the national semis, the Winnipeg St. Andrews Super Saints defeated the Calgary Westbrook Warriors 70-62 as Mickey Norlander scored 23 points, including 15-23 from the line. Fred Ingaldson added 15 and Dave Mills 9. Calgary was called for 32 fouls as compared to Winnipeg’s 15. The Super Saints opened the second half with an 8-0 run to take command. Warriors playing coach Ed Blott told the Calgary Herald that “we didn’t have the necessary coolness under fire.” Blott, Bill Mucklow and Ken Myhre each scored 10 to pace the Warriors.

        In the other semi, the Vancouver Villas defeated the Scarborough Bo-Peeps 79-65 as Brent Watson scored 26, Dave Way 25 and Al Birtles 16. Al Burkett paced the Bo-Peeps with 29. Brian Thrower added 8, Mac Bury 7 and Rollie Goldring 7. Vancouver was whistled for 28 fouls. Vancouver was called for 14. The Villas led 44-30 at the half. The Bo-Peeps rallied to within 57-56 in the second half but faltered down the stretch.

        In the bronze medal match, Dave West scored 23, included 9-10 from the line, Al Birkett 22 and Rollie Goldring 19 to lead the Scarborough Bo-Peeps past the Calgary Westbrook Warriors 107-69. The Bo-Peeps led 45-29 at the half. Jim Christie, Don Andrews and Bill Newcombe each scored 12 to pace the Warriors. The Warriors also included playing coach Ed Blott, Al Kettles, Al MacMillan, Bill Mucklow, Ken Myhre, Wayne Thomas, John Weiland, Rich Macey and Ken Kaake.

        In the final, the Vancouver Villas defeated the Winnipeg St. Andrews Super Saints 70-61. Winnipeg led 25-22 at the half but wilted in the second. The Villas were led by Brent Watson 17, Bob Molinski 15 and Al Birtles 15. The Saints 40-year-old guard Fred Ingaldson scored 17, including 15 in the second half and 7-8 from the free throw line. Mickey Norlander added 14, Dave Mills 12 and Hymie Fox 10. Villas coach John Kootnekoff told the Calgary Herald that “we put this team together in February from senior players in the Vancouver area who wanted a shot at the national title. We knew we had the talent but our problem was one of working together to get the job done.”
