In game one, the teams played to a 40-40 draw as Enid Shepherd hit a jumper at the buzzer for the Olympics. Montreal, coached by Joe Richman, built a 9-point lead at the half and led by eight going into the final frame before the Croftons rallied. Barbara Barbaze hit a bucket to give Toronto a 40-38 lead with under a minute to play before Shepherd broke free for the tying bucket. Shepherd finished with 19 points.
