An Eastern Canada championship was inaugurated in 1950. The winner was awarded the new Carlton Trophy.

In the finals, the Toronto Hoopers Oakwood Presbyterians Oakwoods d’d Verdun High School 38-21; 40-15 (Total: 78-35).

In game one, Doreen Black paced Oakwoods with 13. Shirley McMichael added 11, Shirley Bowyer 8 and Eleanor Fryers 6. Pat McGlashan led Verdun with 7. Ruth Hill added 7, Sheila Neill 5 and Claire Mainwaring 2, while T Hassell, D Jones, S Green, S Knott, M Noble and M Crossley were scoreless. Oakwoods created a stir prior to the game by unveiling their new mascot, a live skunk named ‘Petunia’. Ruth Hill paced Verdun with 7. Pat McGlashan added 7, Sheila Neill 5 and Claire Mainwaring 2, while H Belza, R Cochrane, M Berine, J Lacey, F Grovet and Olga Bugara were scoreless.

        In game two, Shirley McMichael and Doreen Black each scored 13 as Toronto whipped Verdun by 25. Eleanor Fryers added 8 and Marion Bowyer 5. Sheila Neill paced Verdun with 5. Claire Mainwaring added 5, Pat McGlashan 2, Olga Bugara 2 and Ruth Hill 2.

        The Presbyterians were formed by teacher Ruby Anderson.
