In national round robin play, held in Montreal, Victoria First United Church defeated the St. Laurent Mouffs 71-36 as Marg Mainwaring scored 22, Mairi Ann Longmore 14, Jill Smith 10, Liona Wakeman 20, Marla Schroeder 5, Marion Main 4, Ronni Hind 2, Wendy Wallace 2 and Charlene Hunter 2, while Shirley Marshall was scoreless. Yolande Deschamps notched 16 for the Mouffs. Lucie Perier added 7, Suzanne Elias 5, Ginette Robert 3, Michelle Legarade 2, M Lefeure 2 and M Poirier 1, while Suzanne Hunt, Carole Debenais and Denise Marchand were scoreless.
The St. Laurent Mouffs defeated the Edmonton Mysterians 52-40 as Yoland Deschamps scored 17 and Suzanne Alais 15. Amanda Holloway led the Mysterians with 14. Wendy Ellis added 12.
The Victoria First United Church thrashed the Edmonton Mysterians 88-26. “The only mystery is how they got here,” First United coach Moe Turner told Canadian Press. “It wasn’t our best game of the season.” Marg Mainwaring led Victoria with 17. Jill Smith added 15, Marian Main 13, Mairi Ann Longmore 11, Ronni Hind 10, Shirley Marshall 6, Marla Schroeder 6, Wendy Wallace 4, Liona Wakeman 4 and Charlene Hunter 2. Amanda Holloway paced the Mysterians with 8. Colleen Elder added 6, Wendy Ellis 6, Connie Borchers 2 and Linda Kitz 2, Ann Lockwood, Margaret Blandner, Gloria Dille 2, while Suzan Holder, Pat Reed, Ann Lockwood and Margaret Blandner were scoreless.
