Richmond shot 24-83 (.290), while AKO shot 31-77 (.400). Each team nabbed 50 rebounds. AKO coach Randy Sasso told the Windsor Star that “Billy Day had a great scoring game but maybe we were asking a bit too much from him at the other end (in guarding Schmidt). Popowich did a real job on Schmidt. He scored just after we made the switch and then made only one more the rest of the way. It wasn’t anything fancy. He just moved Schmidt out a little in the shooting area and he didn’t hit from that range. … (Barzotto), when he’s at the guard spot, we function much better because he’s oriented to playmaking and lets the scoring look after itself.” Richmond coach John Cooper said “offensively, we just weren’t that sharp. Dave Hancock and Chris Ireland were not scoring up to their average and that hurt us.”

In Manitoba’s 78-53 defeat of St. John Holy Cross, Randy Prokopano scored 15 and Dan Hrynick 15, while Glen Stanford responded with 14 for the Crusaders. Manitoba was up 40-20 at the half.
