I’m not making any excuses but we’ve played a lot of basketball these last few days (10 games in 16 days) and the kids are tense.” Montreal coach Wally Maslowski said “Harrison kept us in the ball game. He scored those baskets when we really needed them.”

But when I found out they brought only eight players with them. That gave me a lift.” Vancouver manager Ted Milton said: “I think the main reason for our quick defeat lay in the officiating. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to knock the referees. All I want to make clear is that rules are interpreted differently here. Out west, the referees don’t tolerate noisy crowds and rough play. But here, the crowd was so noisy that our players had trouble calling signals and hearing the whistle. Of course, it worked both ways and I guess we should not complain. But this factor affected our boys because they aren’t used to playing under such conditions.” Waslowski later noted “I’m a pessimist at heart. And I was really surprised to see that the Vancouver boys didn’t do better than that. Of course, the boys have been on the road for 17 days. I guess that’s what made the difference.” Vancouver was playing its 10th game in 17 days and strain showed. “They have a lot of youngsters on the squad and those are the players that showed signs of tiredness,” Maslowski added. Bob Habert paced the Orchids with 19. Danny Kanath added 18, Brian Jenkins 10, Callan 8, Harrison 7, Willies 3, Sthym 2, Annable 2 and McCormack 1, while Gavin was scoreless.
