The Montclairs eventually took complete control of the game with Pete Isaacs scoring 17, Al Schlosser 15, Bob Nordoff 15, Baker 5, Cunningham 2, Spadoni 2 and Custeau 1, while Peet, Malcolmsen, Wright and Graszat were scoreless. But Windsor won the title by two points after collecting a 68-53 win. In the East final, Windsor AKO won by default as the Maritime champ Moncton CYO forfeited. Essentially, the Montreal University Settlement Orchids forfeited and then refused to pay for Moncton CYO to travel to Windsor to challenge Windsor AKO. Moncton threatened to sue CABA but Secretary-Treasurer W.A. Irwin said go ahead, “we’re not incorporated. There’s nobody to sue.” Moncton was forced to forfeit.

        In game one, Victoria used ball control and good free throw shooting (27 made) to easily defeat Windsor AKO 71-56. The score was knotted at 17 after one quarter. The Vikings led 42-28 at the half and 56-42 after three quarters and breezed to the victory. Guard Tom English paced Victoria with 27. Bob Tomlinson added 14, Ken Brousseau 11, Waldo Skillings 8, Ken McCulloch 4 and Art Chiko 2, while Ralph Patterson, Lance Finch and Jack Showers were scoreless. Bob Hanson paced Windsor with 15. Ralph Paterson added 13 before being injured with two minutes to play, Bucky Parent 7, Tom Mailloux 7, George Stewart 7 and Vernes 7, while Fahringer, Ted Szalay, Keane, Marcel Desjardins, Stannard and Radovich were scoreless.

        In game two, hampered by injuries to playmaker Bucky Parent and centre Ralph Patterson, who played sparingly with a bruised hip, AKO got thrashed by Victoria 61-43. The Vikings led 20-7, 32-21 and 46-32 at the quarters. The Vikes dominated the boards while their defence totally shut down the Windsor running game. Bob Tomlinson paced the Vikings with 17. Waldo Skillings added 14, Tom English 13, Kowalyk 6, McCullough 4, Chiko 4, Showers 2 and Finch 1, while Brousseau was scoreless. For the Fratmen, Bob Hanson scored 14. The boys seem to have forgotten everything that helped them win in the East. We’re a running team and my gang just couldn’t run.”

        Game three was a similar blowout as the Vikings prevailed 62-49 to become the first B.C. team since Vancouver Marpole in 1954 to bring the Bowering Cup back to the West coast. The Vikings led 32-25 at the half and 47-38 after three quarters. Ken McCulloch paced the Vikings with 13. Ken Brousseau 12, Bob Tomlinson 11, Tom English 8, Kowalyk 6, Chiko 5, Finch 2, Showers 2 and Skillings 2, while D Patterson was scoreless. Bob Hanson scored 13 for AKO before fouling out with 6:31 to play, while Ralph Paterson scored 10, Mailloux 9, Vernes 9, Parent 6 and Szalay 2, while Fahringer, Keane, Stewart and Desjardins were scoreless. The desperate Fratmen attempted to throw a zone at Victoria in game three to contain the Vikings running game but their efforts were to no avail. Windsor coach Frank Wansborough told Canadian Press that Vic’s “depth and balance” were the difference. “We figured out this zone defence to try and stop that Tomlinson. But those other two guys (Brousseau and McCulloch) started to throw in the baskets. … It had to be a good team to beat my boys. We lost to a great team. We tried something new out there for a time and I thought it would work. But when Bob Hanson fouled out, that proved to be a killer.”
