        In the final, Alberta defeated British Columbia 79-71 after leading 22-12, 44-28 and 61-55 at the quarters. Alberta took command early, building a double-digit lead as Claire Colborne kept attacking with the penetration dribble. Alberta led by as many as 18 and by 44-28 at the half. Diana Lee rallied BC back within 53-46 midway through the second half. But Colborne drilled a trey to stifle the rally. But BC kept scrapping and cut the margin to 61-55 after three quarters. Kurd hit a trey and Katherine Plouffe drove for a bucket as Alberta restored a double digit early in the fourth quarter. A Van Ginhoven elbow on a defensive rebound and turnovers by Jaime Norum and Michelle Plouffe, though, allowed BC to rally within five with five minutes to play. Katherine Plouffe fed Michelle Plouffe in the paint for a bucket. With Colborne on the bench with four fouls, Diana Lee nailed a step-back trey to cut the margin to 69-65 with 3:07 to play. “Words absolutely cannot describe how this team is feeling right now,” Jamie Norum said. “We are a family and nothing will ever break us apart. I’ll remember how special this day is forever.” Katherine Plouffe added that “this is just crazy. We controlled the first half and knew B.C. was going to come out hard and make a run. They did, but we held them off. We are a very happy group right now.” Alberta coach Scott Edwards said “I’m so proud of each and every one of the kids. They all contributed to the medal. All of Alberta is proud.” Michelle Plouffe fed Van Ginhoven for a bucket in the paint. Christiana Young countered with a free throw for BC. Michelle Plouffe nailed a 12-foot baseline jumper as Alberta regained a 73-66 lead. Erin Chambers countered with a 10-baseline jumper for BC. Michelle Plouffe drilled a 15-footer with 48.9 seconds to play as Alberta moved ahead 75-68. Jaime Norum hit a pair from the line to extend the margin to nine. Cassandra Brown countered with a free throw for BC. Norum and Michelle Plouffe iced it by hitting one free throw each as Alberta pulled out the win.
