Jeff Gosman has forced to watch from the stands while brother Jim co-coach and team administrator runs the squad. A Games rule states that in team sports one of two team officials on the bench must be the same sex as the squad. “I’m going to do my best and see that this rule is change,” Jeff Gosman said. “It’s too late for me but my brother and I both think it’s wrong.” Games chairman Jack Pelech said the rule ensures that teams have women who can enter the dressing room or chaperone players without adding to the number of people in restricted areas at the venues.

        In the semis, Manitoba defeated New Brunswick 59-52. New Brunswick and Manitoba are tied at 30 at the half. But Manitoba, which shot .500 from the floor and .830 from the line pulls out the win. Sue McMaster leads New Brunswick with 15. Lisa Briggs adds 12 and Alison Kent 8.

        In the other semi, Ontario defeats Alberta.

In the 9th-place playoff, Nova Scotia clipped Newfoundland 67-51. Nova Scotia included Barcauskas, Bolivan, Caldwell, Cerny, Layes, MacCormack, MacCormack, MacDonald, Mackenzie, McLeod, Mooney, Mulder, Saxton and Wilson. Newfoundland included Caines, Cashing, Cotter, Dicks, Dobbin, Gould, King, Prim, Quinton, Quirk, Skillen, Sutton and Tobin.

In the 7th-place playoff, British Columbia whipped PEI 62-33. British Columbia (coached by Norm Vickery) included Dolores Buljevic, Linda Edwards, Susan Ewanick, Jana Jordan, Lani Kalutycz, Susan MacPherson, Karyn Mitchell, Kim Poland, Cathy Schick, Irina Sladecek and Teresa Valg. PEI included Bowie, Chandler, Doyle, Enman, Knickler, MacEachern, Maclean, MacPhee, Moore, Nichols, Plamondon, Quinn, Shea and Wright.

        In the 5th-place playoff, Quebec thumped Saskatchewan 83-50. Quebec included Assalian, Demers, Fasone, Hunter, Latendresse, Lewis, MacPherson, McKay, McKenzie, Miller, Szuman, Veilleux and Yard. Saskatchewan included Adreoni, Beckie, Bent, Boso, Dmytryshyn, Henry, Karwacki, Labrie, Lange, Mercier, Miazga, Patterson, Tourigny, Treen and Wilson.

        In the bronze medal match, New Brunswick takes a 36-16 lead at the half and romps to a 71-52 win over Alberta. Coach Claire Mitton said her team wanted it more. Alberta (coached by Faith Rostad, assisted by Sharon Bieleny) included Celeste Bazinet, Laura Ryckman, Kelly Boucher, Dawn Foster, Dawn Fry, Jody Hasselfield, Deborah Patterson, Veronica Vanderschee, Trish Campbell, Kathy Keats, Yolanda Kruyer, Dori Rodzinyak and Laura Ryckman.

        In the final, Ontario rallied from a six-point deficit to defeat Manitoba 54-50.
