        In their opener, Canada edged Colombia 12-10. Paige Crozon paced Canada with 8 on 2-4 from the floor, 3-4 from the arc and 5 boards. Saicha Patricia Grant-Allen added 3 on 2-9 from the floor, 0-1 from the arc, 1-1 from the line and 5 boards. Jamie Scott scored 1 on 1-6 from the floor, 0-2 from the arc, 0-1 from the line and 6 boards, while Kacie Bosch was scoreless and nabbed 2 boards.         Canada closed out pool play at 1-1 after being edged 15-14 by Brazil in overtime. Back-to-back bucket by Jamie Scott and Paige Crozon gave Canada a 10-7 lead with 3:52 to play. Brazil knotted the score at 11 with 2:19 on the clock. After a bucket and a free throw from Saicha Patrica Grant-Allen, Canada took an 13-11 lead but Vitoria Marcelino and Raphaella Monteiro da Silva scored to force overtime with the score knotted at 13. Marcelino and Scott traded baskets but Kacie Bosch was called for a foul against da Silva who made the free throw to pull out the win for Brazil. “I thought we improved from the first game to the second,” Canadian coach Kim Gaucher said. “It’s the first time these four are playing together, so the timing and flow will take a little bit of time but I thought we looked better in a very physical second game against Brazil.” Vitoria Marcelino paced Brazil with 7 on 7-11 from the floor, 0-2 from the arc, 0-1 from the line, 2 blocks and 6 boards.         In the semis, the United States clipped Canada 21-15. Canada led 11-8 with 4:21 to play but Kelsey Mitchell drilled a step-back two-pointer to give the Americans a one-point lead. Dearica Hamby added a bucket and Mitchell a free throw to extend the lead to three. Katie Lou Samuelson added a pair of free throws to give the Americans a 16-11 lead with 1:23 to play. Jamie Scott trimmed the deficit to three but the U.S. iced the win with an insurance bucket. Kelsey Michelle Mitchell paced the United States with 9 on 4-6 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc and 3-3 from the line.         In the bronze medal match, Canada thrashed Chile 21-8. Paige Crozon knotted the score at 6-6. Jamie Scott added a jumper that ignite a decisive 16-2 Canadian run. “I’m really proud of this team and the way we regrouped going into the bronze medal game. It was disappointing to lose in the semis to USA, especially with the effort and toughness we showed,” Crozon said. “However, this team improved so much over the course of the tournament and I’m proud of our growth and camaraderie.” Paige Crozon paced Canada with 13 on 3-6 from the floor, 4-6 from the arc, 2-2 from the line and 2 boards.
