I thought we represented Canada really well tonight and I was proud of the improvements we made,” said coach Kirby Schepp. “We continued to rebound the ball well but unlike the Uruguay game, we shot the ball well tonight. Was nice to see guys get their stroke going from three. That seemed to open up penetrating lanes for us a little bit. When we’re shooting the ball and in transition and dominating the glass like we’ve been, I think we can be a pretty tough team.” Canada hit 4-5 from the arc as they look an early lead over the host Brazilians and iced the game with a decisive 8-0 run with six minutes to play. They led 44-39 at the half and 69-53 after three quarters. Canadian coach Kirby Schepp said “we’re very proud of these guys for qualifying for the World Championships in Bulgaria next year. It certainly was an important step for us in this journey, but we have a couple of other steps in front of this here. We know we have challenges playing the winner of the Dominican Republic and Brazil game tomorrow. But hopefully, the guys will have their best basketball in front of them and will continue to improve.
