In the provincial semis, the Melfort Comets dispatched the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones 44-39 as Nicole Kipling scored 10 and Alison Frier 10. Jan Olson led the Cyclones with 14. Shauna Sapergia added 6.
In the other semi, the Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartanettes clipped the Weyburn Eagles 55-44 as Natalie Lukiw scored 29 and Danell Farmer 15. Connie Piwarski led the Eagles with 12. Lauri Milleker added 9.
In the bronze medal match, the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones whipped the Weyburn Eagles 68-46 as Laurie Ellard scored 15 and Trisha Jattansingh 11. Bernadette Mullen led the Eagles with 15. Lauri Milleker added 11. The Eagles also included Connie Piwarski.
In the final, the Meadow Lake Carpenter Spartanettes defeated the Melfort Comets 60-46 as Melanie Lukiw scored 22 and Natalie Lukiw 21. Alison Frier paced the Comets with 27. Spartanettes coach Ron Dosdall told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix that the Lukiw sisters are “the hub of the wheel. We say any time of the other girls takes a shot and misses, all it is is a pass to Mel or Nat because they’re hitting the boards and they been pretty dominating and have been all year.” Natalie Lukiw said “our coach says to feed the ball inside to us but I don’t think that’s right. It’s a team effort, you know. It helps that we know each other pretty well because if I throw a pass I think she can get, she usually does. But it takes a whole team to win.”
