In the semis, the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Toilers edged the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders 70-66 as Charlene Rhead scored 14, Marianne McConnell 18 and Connie Snooker 14. Jacquie Smith led the Crusaders with 25. Carolyn Grant added 18. The Crusaders also included Renee Verge, who later coached several Toiler teams to provincial titles. “We were a really strong team and we came to Hoopla in Regina and we really didn’t know anything about the other teams. It was very different than it is now,” Verge told the Moose Jaw Times-Herald roughly 25 years later. “We played a team we had never heard of. They were orange and green and they were called Moose Jaw Peacock. And they really kicked our butt.”
In the other semi, the Estevan Elecs whipped the Melfort Comets 75-50 as Carla Mosley scored 10, Janice Lendray 18, Janice Boey 12 and Dana Tafelmeyer 11. Shannon Miller led the Comets with 15.
In the bronze medal match, the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders dusted the Melfort Comets 51-27 as Jacquie Smith scored 15. Shannon Miller led the Comets with 10.
In the final, the Estevan Elecs defeated the Moose Jaw A.E. Peacock Toilers 70-66 as Janice Boey scored 19. The Toilers led 29-23 at the half. Charlene Rhead led the Toilers with 22.
