The 2nd-seeded Middle Lake Three Lakes Avengers spanked the 7th-seeded Herbert Laurels 61-38. The Laurels included Jesse Erb.
In the last quarterfinal, the 6th-seeded Asquith Lord Asquith Lions stunned the 3rd-seeded Lake Lenore Lancers 53-43. The Lancers included Karlene Brinkman and Beth Prodahl.
In the semis, the 4th-seeded Fillmore Falcons edged the top-seeded Kenaston Kodiaks 48-44 after leading 17-15 at the half. Logan Fahlman led the Falcons with 19. Ann Ulmer led the Kodiaks with 17. “We just couldn’t seem to catch a break,” Kodiaks coach Gene Zdunich told the Davidson Leader. “A lot of it was not in our hands.”
In the other semi, the 2nd-seeded Middle Lake Three Lakes Avengers dusted the 6th-seeded Asquith Lord Asquith Lions 62-48 after leading 23-17 at the half. Rayna Olynuk paced the Avengers with 34. Stephanie Quittenbaum led the Lions with 18.
In the bronze medal match, the top-seeded Kenaston Kodiaks clocked the 6th-seeded Asquith Lord Asquith Lions 81-34 after leading 47-21 at the half. “It was a real struggle this season, we had so many injuries and so many people sick,” Kodiaks coach Gene Zdunich told the Davidson Leader. “Just surviving it and getting to Hoopla was kind of the high point,” he said. “I didn’t know how far we were going to go in the playoffs. … All of our kids worked so hard.” Ann Ulmer paced the Kodiaks with 38. Stephanie Quittenbaum led the Lions (coach Ms. Bachmeimer, assistant Dana Grasby, assistant Vicki Quittenbaum, assistant Jared Ablass, assistant Mrs. Ablass) with 15.
In the final, the 2nd-seeded Middle Lake Three Lakes Avengers dispatched the 4th-seeded Fillmore 33 Central Falcons 59-51 to capture their third consecutive provincial title. The Avengers led 29-28 at the half. Rayna Olynuk led the Avengers with 22. Logan Fahlman paced the Falcons with 20.
