The Eatonia Spartans stomped the Duck Lake Stobart Rebels 80-39 after leading 37-23 at the half. Eatonia generated a bush of buckets in transition during the romp. Jennifer Hyland paced Eatonia with 24. Jessica Frison added 20. Jacklyn Bourdon led Stobart with 13. Megan Bourdon added 10.

In the other semi, the Eatonia Spartans edged the Kenaston Kodiaks 53-48 as Kaitlin Frison scored 15 and Kellie Boychuk 13. Danille Kerpan paced Kenaston with 15. Jackie Matovich added 12. “I give all the credit to Kenaston,” said Eatonia coach John Frison told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “We’ve had tremendous battles for seven straight years. This seems to be an annual Kenaston-Eatonia 1A showdown every year. We’ve won some and we’ve lost some; today we won one.” Kenaston coach Melanie Kerpan said “it was a great game. We have some Grade 12s who played an awesome game. We just gave it our best. I’m proud of them, very proud.”
In the bronze medal match, the Middle Lake Three Lakes Avengers edged Kenaston Kodiaks 45-41 as Deena Martinka scored 20 and Courtney Heidecker 12. Jackie Matovich led Kenaston (coached by Melanie Kerpan) with 15. Ivana Yelich added 10.
In the final, the Eatonia Spartans defeated the Fillmore Falcons 50-46 as Kellie Boychuck scored 14. Amanda Ogden led Fillmore with 14. “It’s a dream come true,” Eatonia co-captain Jennifer Hyland, who also helped the Spartans capture the provincial 1A girls’ volleyball title during the current school year, told the Regina Leader-Post. “We’ve worked so hard for this. In eight years of playing basketball, I’ve always wanted to get this. We came up short in other years, but not this year. It’s even sweeter because this is my Grade 12 year and it was my last chance to get it. It’s so awesome. We’ve never had so many fans. People I don’t even know were cheering for us.” Falcons coach Tracy Ogden said “our quest for gold (in 2008) starts tomorrow.”
