In the provincial semis, the Hanley Saberettes dusted the Wilcox Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Houndettes 70-27 as Shelley Ballard scored 26 and Natalie Johnson 14. Donna Lela led the Hounds with 10.

In the other semi, the Wapella Vikettes nipped the Hepburn Hawks 37-36 as Darlene Prante scored 10 and Gayle Jones 10. Vikettes coach Fred Jerred said Wapella was the small school in the province, by enrolment, and had only 20 senior girls in the school (in the A division, schools had to have less than 50 girls enrolled). Wapella led by one with 42 seconds to play and hung on for the win as no one else scored. Vikettes coach Fred Jerred told the Regina Leader-Post that “I expect we have to play a lot better than we did tonight. But we made it exciting.” Judy Williams led the Hawks with 6. Gerdie Marketin added 6.

In the bronze medal match, the Hepburn Hawks pounded the Wilcox Athol Murray College of Notre Dame Houndettes 77-39 as Debbie Arendt scored 24. Wendy Theodore led the Houndettes with 12.

In the final, Laurel Beaumont scored 16 to lead the Hanley Saberettes past the Wapella Vikettes 54-32. Gail Jones led the Vikettes with 18. Vikettes coach Fred Jerred told the Regina Leader-Post that “in a way, they are (raised to play). They play every sport but basketball’s got their dedication. Everybody likes to beat us because we are so good. But we’re also the smallest school.”
